He set the timer then turned the power off. He then got the security guard to turn the power back on.
shareExcept he cut the power after he instructed the security guard to exit the building with the rest of the hostages. He had no idea the guard would be there to power back on the electricity.
shareI would have to re watch it but he would have probably turned the power back on himself if the security guard hadn't came back. I liked this film, didn't love it. Denzel is always good and I like Chloe Moretz. Can anyone say if this was anything like the tv show? Should I watch it?
shareThe tone is similar, in that it's gritty. But, the movie is more brutal for sure. Denzel's portrayal is a lot more ruthless than Edward Woodward's. However, the essence of the show is retained. This is a man who has seen and done a lot of bad stuff in the past and feels like he must repent. And he chooses to do this by helping out innocent people who are desperate and have no one to turn to.
You should give the original show a shot. Woodward was awesome in it. He was so good that I was very skeptical about a remake.
Denzel made it his own and hit it out of the park! I like both portrayals "equally".

shareThe Robert character on the TV show was more of a thinking man. He was an ex-special forces soldier from England, but he was much older than in the movie. He tended to rely more on his wits than violence. He had a couple of compatriots he looked to for help. He was not as much of a hands on guy as Denzel's portrayal. If you watch the recently ended TV show, Leverage, that is more what the old Equalizer was like. Not so much the cons, but the way they resolved things without any gunplay or extreme violence.

Uhhh, Denzel was 59 or so when filming this movie. Edward was 55 when the TV show started. Just because Edward LOOKED older doesn't mean he was. share
no he wasn't a special forces guy. for 1 the only unit in the world that is actually called special forces is is the united states army special forces, IE the green berets. and his character was a former member of an unnamed united states government agency called the agency and the company which is a nickname for the CIA

Yes there was, i just watched it. And that's just stupid in itself, why take the time to set an exact timer when you don't need to and might miss.
shareThe only way this would work is if he planned ahead. When he showed up and played the music before he turned the power off he could have set a timer. Unlike the power going off it was simply turned off. They would do this every night. If it was similiar to cutting the power every morning someone would have to reset the microwaves clock. But honestly I think it was squeezed in. Remember it's a movie.

He left a trail of blood and knew the guy would follow him in there. Also, the guy obviously didn't have to be standing directly in front of the microwave--that was a pretty big explosion.

Nobody panics when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying!
Just a movie goof they don't think anyone will notice. Sort of like Schwarzenegger using the thermostat to blow up a house full of gas in "Eraser." The spark is sealed in a glass bulb, yet somehow it blew the house up, anyway.
Sort of like people flying backwards when they get shot. More movie nonsense.
