Major disappointment ( what the Fuqua'ppened?)
did my own personal calculation and this movie equals 5.5304/10. Here, hear why. Let's start with the prostitute girl. It's a good thing she wasn't there long in the movie because I'm kind of saturated with this particular character. Plus I had just seen one in the previous movie .In St.Vincent it was a refreshing version of the cliche. In this one though, It's the same character we've seen 100 times. Also, when the movie started, Denzel's character had a certain charisma that disappeared has the story progressed. The stone cold grieving guy that holds the weight of the world on his shoulders as been done many times before, and again, kind'a tired of it When it brings nothing new to the table. Otherwise, the story was not bad and The movie could've been good if it was not of an overabondance of good'ol cliches. (Ex: "I want him alive " bad guy says to his gun-packing crew/ Corkscrew stabbing/hero calmly walking away from supa-huge explosion he did, slow-motion included./The "he was not in his house's bathroom when the bad guys forced the door, he was in another bathroom at the same time"faint/ The hero that kills a bunch of guys but only gets shot in the arm/ the Deus Ex Machina cliche when the underdog guard saves our hero/the execution by electric wire in water./ need more?) I am not even sure if there is one scene that did not made me feel like I had seen it before in another movie. That ain't good. That is bad Actually. Okay, one last thing, the "surroundings-analyses-before-killing" mode in pre-fight scene has also been done before and in better ways. (Ex:Ritchie with Sherlock Holmes. ) The emotionally charged final scene was a good idea and a cool set-up but I was not as touched as I should've been .
I hope John Wick will be better. (bought'em together) My rating: 5.5/10
