The opening to the original IS the movie pretty much. It was a short film that got expanded to make a feature length. That's why the movie slogs the way it does. This remake is not only NOT underrated, it's one of the worst uses of this Urban Legend I've ever seen.

I agree the opening to the original and the ending scared me half to death. I feel like the middle was slacking a bit.

Agree with you. I'm not the biggest stickler for ratings on this site, but 5.0 for this movie is way too low! It is very suspenseful and goes for the quiet approach to filmmaking. It's methodical and tense and the scares are genuine. Also, I think Camilla Belle is excellent in this.

This must be the only horror movie you've ever seen if you think that. This movie is one big piece of cliched crap. The lead is an uncharasmatic bore with horrible eyebrows. If your casting process is nothing more than "warm body with pretty face" at least select someone that doesn't look like a Jim Henson creation.

That's a bit hash. She was fine for the role! I sympathized for her. I just hated how she called the children "children" the whole time. But that's a script issue.

Agreed, and Tommy Flanagan scares the s**t out of me...especially the creepy stare in the police car at the end..

Plus, y'know, the house in the remake kicks the house in the originals ass! And Brian Geraghty is in the remake too.
