Only 2 reasons I enjoyed this movie...

Yes, I compared it to the original, and in my opinion, it falls well short. Especially the ending.

But, the protagonist in the remake is gorgeous. Stunning, IMO.

And the house is awestrucking.

That's it. The female lead is not and the house is amazing. Aside from that, stick with the original.

I recently rewatched the original and, in my opinion, the remake is better.

Camilla Belle is way underrated. I like Carol Kane but she's no scream queen/slasher heroine.

I agree with you about the house. The remake house is awesome. Whereas the house in the original might as well be a three little pigs hut.

The remake is short and tight. The original is horrifically over long and wretchedly over done.

The love interest, namely Brian Geraghty, in the remake is flippin' gorgeous. In the original the husband barely registers.

In the remake the baddie (or stranger, if you will) is truly menacing and pure evil. In the original he's a sad little man.

The remake features a nice turn from a spunky blonde (Katie Cassidy). The original features no such performance.

In the remake Jill fights. In the original Jill flees.

The original features a rather repugnant middle section which sags incessantly. The remake has no such section.

The opening of the remake, whilst not being on a par with the originals, is well done.

The ending of the remake is better than the originals ending.

I recently rewatched the original. It's good. But the remake is better.
