Reminds me of Zombie's Halloween

Spoilers !

Don't you see any resemblance with Rob Zombie's remake of Halloween? I saw Halloween before the BC remake... When I watching Black Christmans, I kept noticing similarities between the two remakes.
- The kid (younger in BC) who murders his family, especially the scene in the kitchen
- Billy's sister hair and clothes / Michael Myers' hair and clothes

There were others that I can't remember right now. Seems to me that Rob Zombie picked the best elements of this film and made ... quite a better movie !

Too bad Deborah didn't have sex with Michael in Halloween like Billy and his mom did in Black Christmas. That would've been awesome!!!

"The Blood of Pumpkins Shall Flow Throughout the Land"

- Pumpkin Man

Better? They're actually the same quality: UTTER SUCK!

The Towering Inferno

This is much better than RZ's Halloween imo.

They are also both remakes that give a backstory to killers that were complete enigmas in the original movies.

This film I have lots of criticism of, but ti's by FAR a better film then Zombie White Trash jerk off fest he tried to pass off as a Halloween film.

They do have in common both being remakes of films about a Mysterious kill that think the cool way to "Modernize" the story is to give the killer a messed up dysfunctional family back story.

"When the chips are down... these Civilized people... will Eat each Other"

also, they are the only two remakes that didn't suck.

Come again?

"Your logic does not resemble our Earth logic" - Buffy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

No, not really. I enjoy this alot better than the RZ's Halloween, though :)

In how they both exchange "creepy uncertainty" or "what scares you is what you do not know" for "villain gets most backstory", "villain gets most screen time", and "kills over atmosphere" they are extremely similar.

Jump scares and graphic violence won't ever get me if there is no atmosphere of suspense in the film. A film with great suspense/atmosphere, great score, unknown killer motivations and therefore super creepy is the original Halloween. Another one is High Tension aka Switchblade Romance aka Haute Tension.

Though the latter has a real stupid ending... Always someway they ruin horror films these days.

And the older ones often have a glaringly obvious low budget which also takes you out of the atmosphere.

If they could only take the atmosphere of Suspiria, Halloween or the like with todays higher production values we would have loads of great horror films to sink our teeth in...
