I had to think about it for a minute, but it's 'cause it doesn't take itself seriously at all. I feel like more often than not, these remakes take themselves too seriously. Chainsaw Massacre and Hills Have Eyes come to mind.

I agree that it doesn't take itself too seriously, but both the remakes you listed are better in every way...

This is a great slasher. So much fun.
