Black Christmas 2006 is one of those movies...

... that, even though it is by no means well constructed, believable, or realistic - is still incredibly fun to watch. The original is a masterpiece in my eyes, but unlike diehard fans of that film, I don't see this remake as taking away its power. The 1974 version is serious, ambiguous, and really spooky.

While on the other hand, this rendition of the story is campy, gory, often ridiculous, and all around Christmas spirited. But isn't it just so much fun?

I have a blast watching this during the holidays, it's a great little slasher flick. Anyone else have the same feelings toward this movie?

I feel the EXACT same way. :)

Ahh, good! I'm watching it right now actually, and there's quite the snowstorm outside where I live right now. So so Christmasy! :)

I would have enjoyed it more had they changed the escape scene, not inserted the flashbacks into the present day story, removed agnes all together and added a bit more character to the girls and suspense to the death scenes.

I still enjoy it, even though I fast forward through the flashback scenes, but could have been so much better.

Wonder how long before they remake this one? LOL.

I love this movie too!

God knows why, I can pick the flaws out easily BUT I still love it and try to watch it once a fortnight!

This movie is great. Obviously not for the same reasons as the original, but still great.

Agreed. I hated it when I saw it in theaters, but it's really grown on me since then. I think I was just being way too critical for this kind of movie, and comparing it to the serious-natured original didn't help matters. This is just a fun, often campy little movie not meant to be taken so seriously. You really do find yourself enjoying it a lot more if you just stop and take it for what it is. Plus, it actually does have some pretty cool shots, the cinematography is pretty great for a slasher flick, and its got its cool moments (shower peep-hole scene). Plus, I love the snowstorm element, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead's death scene. It's not a classic, but it's certainly not horrid and is way better than most other slashers or direct-to-DVD fare. It's just plain fun.

Oh yes! This is such a fun slasher film with one of the hottest female casts ever assembled in an all-female slasher flick! Yep.

Gonna be watching it sometime this Xmas. It's just one of those movies haha.

If the apocalypse comes, beep me.

^^I agree, it wasn't as good as the original but it was still pretty good. And the female cast were extremely hot! Katie, Mary, Lacey, Michelle, Crystal, Kristen Cloke, doesn't get any better, LOL!

Good post. This movie is obviously not objectively good, but the mood set by the lighting, house and snow is hard to beat. Cut out the boring flashback scenes and give us more of the girls, especially Michelle and Lacey, and you'd really have a fun little holiday gem.
