Mary Elizabeth Winstead + Katie Cassidy should have switched

Heather(Winstead) seems much more wholesome and final girl-ish and I didn't understand her character. At first she seemed like the good girl and Eve even commented on the fact that she "liked the Bible and stuff". She was Grade-A Final girl material. And then all of a sudden when her character and Miss Mac are outside, Heather turns into a dumb bitch and doesn't know how to scrape the snow off of a car. Umm...ok?

Kelly (Katie Cassidy) wasn't a terrible final girl. However, she plays a better bitch and I could see her being the snooty rich girl with the Nascar Daddy.

So, I ultimately feel that Winstead should have played Kelly and Cassidy should have played Heather.

And here's just a little extra something to point out, Mary Elizabeth Winstead slightly resembles Olivia Hussey (the original's final girl.) I realize this is a remake, but I'm just confused as to why they chose Katie Cassidy for that role.

The resemblance is small but it's still there.

Winstead did get the lead role, but did not wanna be type cast, so she offered to take the role of Heather instead.

It was publicly stated buy them if I'm not mistaken and the news about it was all over the boards back in 2006.

I love Katie but I was surprised that Mary was killed off. I could've seen her in the lead role easily but I can understand why she didn't want to be typecast. It was a good shock too.

Heather was vocally Christian, which means Hollywood would never let her go unpunished for that.

Just watched this movie again and I completely agree. Definetly had a WTF moment once The Thing girl was killed off after having not seen this movie since it came out (better then I remembered too).

^ Are you sure? Mary Elizabeth Winsteads character was suppose to be southern. Terrible southern accent if you ask me.

MEW is the sort of actress who should always have a very strong role if not being the films lead. It's a waste of her talents otherwise.
