was I the only one...

...waiting for some kind of major twist at the end? I didn't hate the movie, but I've read some reviews hailing it as one of the best horror movies of recent times and while I appreciated the Hitchcockesque atmosphere and build up of tension, I was pretty disappointed when it ended.

I'm not saying all films like this need a twist but I just thought it had nothing new to offer, even the snuff thing has been done better, you couldn't really empathise with them as victims and PLEASE, creepy motel at night in the middle of nowhere? When I was watching it I was really thinking there was going to be a huge revelation, it put a bit of a hole in the film for me. But that's just me :)

You just gotta keep on livin, man. L-I-V-I-N.

What kind of twist would you have liked?

To be honest I can't picture this movie with a twist.

Like omgz, Dave really bought snuff films from this place?!

Like I can't picture it.

I mean more of a metaphorical twist, given that we know nothing about the characters from the start except they're an unhappy couple grieving the death of their son, it seemed like that ambiguity made room for the plot to be ambigious also- for instance one (or both) of them is not what they seem and they are not necessarily the victims.

I'm probably reading way to much into it, I think it's cos this film reminded me of Identity (stranded at a hotel, serial killer etc) which had an awesome twist.

I was relieved that for once they didn't pull the old "Wait a minute! He's not dead yet! He's gonna grab her! He just grabbed her!" thing (even though you're led to suspect they will). But yeah, it did seem like it could have ended on a stronger note.

I have to agree with the above post. The twist is there is no twist. The twist is you're expecting one more guy to appear because at the end, Amy is finally distracted by David actually surviving. The music was building up and then the camera cuts to the wide exposition shot pulling back, and I was like, "Oh huh... wow, they actually live."

That was the twist.
