treads a very fine line & succeeds

I usually don't like slashy torture porn type mainstream horror flicks. stuff like Hostel & Saw just don't do it for me. I prefer more psychological terror than a dude in a mask killing teenagers with a signature bladed weapon. Chigurh & in No Country for Old Men & the Christopher Waltz character in Inglorious Basterds, that's real scariness. But Vacancy combined both & did it well. To a lesser extent, The Strangers did as well.

Lol @ your signature!
The only thing I found scary about The Strangers was that a few people in pajamas and masks could not only terrorize, but also capture and kill, a couple. There were at least 25 things in that cabin that would have made excellent weapons. I call what happened to them "Death by Stupidity."

I guess I just have a mask-a-phobia. Expressionless masks are really terrifying to me.
