How could that error about the Potsdam conference happen?

It is really odd that although there were archivists etc. included in the credits they thought Churchill instead of Atlee was at the 1945 Potsdam conference. How come noone caught the error?

The same error is in the book. Someone mentions the error here in a review or on the board too. Atlee replaced Churchill after the 1945 elections. It's an interesting error, I guess.

On 16 July 1945, the "Big Three" leaders met at Potsdam, Germany, near Berlin. In this, the last of the World War II heads of state conferences, President Truman, Soviet Premier Stalin and British Prime Minister Churchill AND ATTLEE attended.

Why both? Because although the 1945 British General Election had taken place BEFORE Potsdam, the count took many weeks to complete because 100,000s of voters were still fighting in the war against Japan. The result was not announced until AFTER Potsdam. So BOTH men attended Potsdam with Churchill taking the lead in the UK delegation

Famously Stalin told Churchill not to worry about the result as his spies in London had already reported that Churchill would be returned as Prime Minister.

That's very interesting. However, more than a few sources name Attlee only. Strange..the whole thing.

I think that was genuine news reel footage from Potsdam, showing Churchill - however, it didn't matter whether it was he or Atlee who attended (and I think they both did, incidentally because Churchill lost his job during the Conference and was replaced by Atlee) because they were both marginalised anyway, as being played out.
