Is the Name "Wonder Woman" Even Mentioned?
I don't think it was once. Kind of an epic fail not to mention the title character's name in the movie.

shareThis is true it wasn't mentioned. However, how would you introduce the term? Maybe via an incidental comment about her, like "You know your friend Diana - she is a true wonder. A woman of wonders". I'm not sure how she would from there start receiving the appellation "Wonder Woman" as it doesn't relate to an existing context in language anymore than "Wonder Man" might. It's not the norm in human society to attach an evocative superlative noun to the front of a gender noun. Superman is a different case because post Nietzsche there is existing terminology and context to allow "superman" to be a noun label and a description of a given person.
shareWhether it sounds silly or not, it's got to be done. Otherwise you're one step away from retiring this character's name entirely. That has some precedence as Marvel Girl got phased out for Jean Grey. But DC continues to market Wonder Woman by that name, including the movie's title! You could've had one of her "howling commandos" talk about how Diana doesn't sound like a warrior's name, and start debating what she should be called. He could've said Amazing Girl, or, no, Wonder Girl. Then Diana steps in and says Wonder WOMAN.
shareIn the sequel set in early '80s, it will be established that Diana is dating Stevie Wonder so then she would be called Wonder's woman.
The press misheard it and put "Wonder Woman" as news headlines.
Seriously though, Wonder Woman is just a terribly campy name.
