You're watching it wrong
In case you didn't listen to the 'How Did This Get Made' podcast about this movie, I highly recommend checking it out.
Lexi Alexander turned this movie into a live-action cartoon which I wholeheartedly embraced. The original plan was to make a realistic and gritty Punisher movie based in reality. This would be a cool movie, but before she signed on, a young man at Virginia Tech decided to go on a shooting spree.
What does this have to do with the violence and dialogue in the film being blatantly cartoonist? Lexi Alexander saw the V-Tech shooter's room on television only to find he
was a huge fan of the Punisher. In order to avoid someone being inspired to go on a murder spree because the Punisher reboot wanted to be like the Dark Knight.
Punisher: War Zone is meant to just be a fun movie for which you simply have to turn off your mind. It's a beautifully shot, well choreographed and well directed B-movie. Embrace the insanity and laugh at the stupidity
I mean 7 minutes into this movie, a 90 year old man is decapitated and his wife's neck is broken by the Punisher. He then goes on to murder EVERYONE. Just have fun with the movie. It's stupid as hell but it's undoubtedly one of the most fun, dumb and BONKERS movies ever made. So enjoy. Don't overly criticize
