This Movie Really Implies That The French Are Evil
I'm too used to movies that just make them out to be cowards.

shareLOL. I've not seen the French treated so distastefully in a film in some time. Come on, they're not THAT bad!

The yanks didn't fair much better: One was a snidy misery, the other was a pill-popping screeching 3 stone mess!
shareI definitely wondered at making the airport screeners be asses, but aside from that I'm not sure it made any real judgement on the French. The only people really shown in the movie were ravers and cultists--and they're going to be pretty much the same everywhere. (IE: If you watch Friday the 13th, it doesn't say that all Americans have the disposition of the teenage campers. It just happens to be the portrayed character set.)
If the OP means the Catacombs in general... As far as the French monarchy goes that was one of the more practical things they did over the centuries. :D
And the actors who played the airport screeners spoke a very bad French, with a very strong Eastern European accent (I've read that most scenes of the film were shot in Romania - I guess they employed local extras). It's quite funny to see them making fun of her not speaking French when they obviously cannot speak it either. Anyway, security people in airports are a pain everywhere in the world. Same with Henri who obviously wasn't French either (just look at the cast, they all have Romanian names except the two leads).
As for the other French people in the film, they're not worse than the retarded family in Texas Chainsaw Massacre or the freaks from The Hills Have Eyes... I guess you can't sum up an entire culture and country by a bunch of weirdos lurking in sordid places.
