NATIONAL LAMPOON'S RV VACATION

This movie is PRACTICALLY a Vacation movie complete with all the mishaps, kids coming along reluctantly against their own will, etc. Just replace Robin Williams and Cheryl Hine with Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo as Clark and Ellen Griswold. Just change the names of the kids from Cassie and Carl to Audrey and Rusty. Just replace Jeff Daniels and his family with Randy Quaid as Cousin Eddie and his family. Then have the song "Holiday Road" playing in the background while they're riding in the RV. AND you got yourself:
NATIONAL LAMPOON'S RV VACATION...

It's all been done
It's all been done
It's all been done before...

I've seen them both and no, not the same. RV is family-friendly, whereas Vacation isn't for kids viewing. Chevy Chase takes the family on his idea vacation and Robin Williams cancels theirs in order to cover up for having to work. RV didn't have the sexual overtones and innuendo, drugs and F-bomb every other sentence. The Griswalds have all the mishaps constantly, at home, Europe and to Wally World. Have you seen RV?

Other than the fact that the two families had four people, there is nothing at all similar between the two. What sort of activities did both engage in? Only one family was headed for the West Coast, only one family had a dad trying to do important work during the trip, only one family was in a station wagon, only one stopped off to visit relatives, only one had their money stolen, only one....

And in terms of the styles, only one movie had some nudity, a fair amount of sexual innuendo, some attempted adultery, and a fair amount of cussing. One movie was much more family-friendly in terms of the audience it sought.

Why don't we just shoot 'em down and be through with it?
