Family rocks...and I mean rocks...

John Carpenter's Cigarette Burns used to be my favorite by a long shot.

I've watched Pick Me Up and Fair Headed Child last night. Though nothing breathtaking, I thought these both were pretty decent and kept my interested to some level. They weren't Cigarette Burns though :(

btw- Fair Headed Child is very much like People Under The Stairs by Wes Craven. If you liked that episode, I beg you to watch the movie, as it's much better! Trust me!

But tonight, I just watched Family.

Wow. Just wow. Talk about an ending where I literally could not watch. Family has just became my favorite! There is a minor error though.

It's when the Celia came over George's house. Right when she walked it, she asked if she could light up a smoke inside.

The problem with this, is that she could have smoked before coming over...or at least on the short walk there. That scene kinda dumbfounded me. It's kinda like her coming over and saying, "hey, could I use your restroom".....as she just left her house which is across the street.

Any more recommendations as from those 4?

Family was certainly creepy, and is definitely one of the better written episodes of the show's two year lifespan, despite that small insignificant flaw. Also thanks for the tip. I always thought Fair Headed Child had loads of potential which is why I was some what disappointed with how the episode was handled. I'll be sure to check out People Under The Stairs, and being a fan of Wes Craven's I'm sure it'll be terrific.

Thanks for the recommendations. I'll probably hit The Black Cat tonight.

Yes-- please watch People Under The Stairs (I consider it Wes Craven's second best movie behind A Nightmare on Elm Street...everything else of his is just completely mediocre IMOl). It's a hidden gem in the rough. If you have Netflix, it is streaming in HD too. Talk about an awesome movie. After you watch it, you'll know immediately where the Fair Headed Child came from.

I watched The Deer Woman last night, and I thought it was pretty decent as well. I thought it was more comedic though (when the detective kept thinking of ways that the murder in the truck occurred had me LOLing at the screen).

Post your feedback or hit me up after you've seen it. I guarantee that you'll like it immensely if you liked Fair Headed Child.

I'll be sure to share my thoughts as soon as I see the film, and for what its worth, The Black Cat is easily my favorite episode of the series; so hopefully you enjoy it as much as I did.

I find People Under The Stairs to be dragged down by its excessive corniness. The main guy in that is way too Jim Carrey-esque to be scary. On the other hand, Fair-Haired Child plays it straight, which is one of the reasons why Fair-Haired Child is much better. People Under The Stairs is an okay movie, though.

I agree that Family rocks; it's a masterpiece all-around.

I'd also recommend The Black Cat, Right to Die, and Incident On and Off a Mountain Road, which are all very near perfect IMO.

She may have wanted a smoke right then because she was so nervous about what was about to happen.

She didn't ask to go outside until after dinner, before dessert. Plus she was massively stressed out about David being "missing". Both of these situations would lead to her wanting, as a smoker, to go out for a smoke in between dinner and dessert. Harold would completely buy that logic which is why it was a perfect excuse to help her leave the door open for David.

As a former smoker, I did not think anything of it when she said she wanted to step outside for smoke at that time. Made perfect sense to me.

This is my personal favorite from the series.

I strongly disagree with your assessment that Fair Haired Child is "obviously" based on People Under the Stairs. They're very different in theme and concept. One is a supernatural, romantic, artistic, beautiful gothic take on Beauty and the Beast. The other is a fun, campy, sweet coming-of-age tale about friendship that's grounded in much more mundane, human evil. I do love them both, but Fair Haired Child for me is absolutely perfect. Everything about it is perfect.

While People Under the Stairs is...not. It's basically an 80s children's movie (in the vein of The Goonies) that features incest and child murder. This juxtaposition is bizarre. It's a miracle it works as well as it does. I think People was strongly influenced by Wes Craven's earlier Hills Have Eyes, as far as the whole rescuing a young girl from her monstrous family thing goes. (Which is a wonderful concept as far as I'm concerned, and I think it's done quite well in both, but better in People.)

I watched Family tonight, and I loved it! Great episode. One thing I especially liked about it is the parts where we see the story through Harold's eyes -you can see what perfect sense everything he did made to him, and how reasonable it all felt in his head.

This episode was wicked funny! Hysterically, laugh-out-loud funny, lol.

I got news for 'em. There's gonna be hell to pay. 'Cause I ain't Daddy's little boy no more.

Since Celia already knew George was her daughter's abductor/killer, I figured she was just trying to see how far she could push him before he snapped. She knew he despised smoking so that was easy.

The wild, cruel animal is not behind the bars of a cage. He is in front of it.

Oh my goodness family was a horrible episode. Thes best was Pick me up or Sick girl.
