Fair-Haired Child

I think this is one of the first MoH episodes I have ever seen (if not the first) and I just want to say that while I didn't like the episode all-in-all, the monster was one of the freakiest ones I have ever seen.

I recently re-watched this episode and fast-forwarded to the parts where he is found.

The way he walks is creepy, and so is his weird twig-like hair.

Yes the monster is awesome, but so too is the entire episode, from start to finish. It's a masterpiece all-around. Too bad that there are only a few other episodes of this series that are anywhere near as good.

Yes, but how moral was it?

It's a solid edition to the series, but my expectations before upon watching were set extremely high, considering the unlimited potential the storyline certainly had. However on a more positive note; I must say the creature was done to perfection in this episode. I mean the movements, and it's "face on" appearance generally freaked me out, and I can't remember the last time a horror movie or TV show gave me this type of feeling. Anyway, a 7/10 for mine: be sure to check my profile for constant updates on ratings per. episode

I'm the exact opposite thus far. I mean I haven't seen every episode from both seasons as of yet, however from the 11 I have seen, the quality of most of them have been rather high, with the only real exceptions of Jenifer and Pro-Life.

I found it weird that it more or less ripped of Rubber Johnny without giving Chris Cunningham any credit.

Glad someone else mentioned Rubber Johnny. When I saw Fair Haired Child, I thought "I've seen that thing before somewhere..." and then it hit me..."Rubber Johnny".

Have to admit I did like the Episode, and the storyline was good (especially the irony in the end). And the monster was good (and truly startling). I think it had a sort of "fairytale-ish" feel to the episode - especially the ending.

Holy crap... I was thinking the same thing. I mean, I was watching it and thinking that it looked kinda familiar. And then when it started bending and whatnot I just shouted That's Rubber Johnny". And his name was Johnny in the show!!! His name was Rubber Johnny!!

It looked somewhat like Rubber Johnny, but it's likely coincidental. It was not that similar to yell "rip off".

The monster in this one was great! I watched this right after "Pro life", where the monster is completely ridiculous, and it was quite refreshing.

reply

Are you referring to the baby monster or the hell demon? Because I thought the hell demon looked AWESOME! The baby monster... so bad I couldn't even laugh it.

reply

Hmmm... I can't really remember the looks of them... I wasn't so impressed with the hell demon either, but then again, I had already watched "Fair-haired child", so the standard was pretty high ;)

I thought you said you watched Fair Haired Child after Pro-Life? Anyway, it doesn't matter. I agree that the Fair Haired Child monster was the coolest of all. I just wish they didn't put the monster on the title cover. It kind of ruined the shock.

reply

I thought the monster was descent, but overall I didn't think the episode was anything special,

The episode won me over as so far my favorite of the bunch.
