'Pick Me Up' has the potential to be remade as an actual proper movie

Of all the episodes I've watched so far, this is by far the most decent. The rest of them have some of the most laughable acting that even parodies of horror can't accomplish (see shows like Garth Marenghi's Darkplace) and story concepts you'd see better suited for a Troma movie (a woman with deer legs kicking the sh*t out of people??)

But "Pick Me Up" was one that actually had a great story and an interesting idea that, under a proper director and some real actors, could be a really good thriller if rewrote. I was thinking of getting someone like Matt Damon to play the Hitchhiker, and some gruff older actor like Jeff Bridges to play the truck driver. For the main actress, the original lead was fine but you could have your pick there. Throw in a great director like David Fincher and you could actually take this gem from the rough and polish it up.

I especially liked the scene where the hitchhiker and trucker meet up finally and you're not sure whether either knows about the other's identity, or they do but it's like a battle of the minds. Reminds me of the restaurant scene between Pacino and De Niro in Heat (well, maybe not that intense). But great premise.

My thought exactly. I adore the premise of this episode, even though the execution left quite a bit to be desired. With all the right pieces in place this could make an awesome movie.

if you enjoyed this episode, a book available as a kindle edition on amazon, Serial Killers Uncut for the full version, a collaberation by Blake Crouch and J. A. Konrath, may be a good read for you. It does a few things i don't like (notably tying in protagonists and antagonists in nearly everything that either of them wrote), but at the core it is a very similar premise to this story, and a fairly good, if grisly read. not a commercial, just something you may look at.

I HATE how they do that! I read Origin(first part) and it was good but I am afraid to read more or the tie in crap will make me hate them.

The wild, cruel animal is not behind the bars of a cage. He is in front of it.

Agreed. I thought of this premise a good 10 years ago, and then this came out. I was so excited to watch it, but the episode was kind of 'bleh.'

I think with a proper script and director, this premise could really make for an exciting film.

Think of 'The Hitcher,' but instead of the Hitcher being the only killer, the person giving him the ride was also a killer. So much coolness could occur.

It would also possibly work if one of them were a woman.

EDIT: The ending, though, was brilliant. I saw it coming (because it reminded me of 'The Twilight Zone' movie), but I loved it. Awesome ending.

I found this episode genuinely frightening and I thought the acting (by the two male leads especially) in it was superior to many of the other episodes. A favorite of season one.
