It's been over 9 years since this show ended and I really miss it, sure it was wildly inconsistent, some of the episodes flat out sucked, but some were totally awesome and gave directors like John Carpenter a time to shine again.

I mean the whole idea behind this show was so cool, it was pretty much a horror fan's dream come true and I loved the variety, you really had no idea what to expect with each episode.

I suspect that since each episode was almost like a mini-movie it was simply too expensive, which is why it didn't last, but I still really wish Showtime would revive it.

I miss it too. I used to watch it on both Showtime and later, the Chiller channel started airing edited episodes.

Loved the opening sequence and stories. It was creepy and definitely a horror fan's dream come true with true "masters" of horror spinning the tales.

I loved it but do admit some of the episodes were meh.

Showtime SUCKS with horror shows! A dam.n shame!

They recently ended Penny Dreadful without so much as a warning or announcement.

and like you OP, the MOH concept was phenomenal. it lost a little something when the show moved to NBC, got toned down and was renamed Fear Itself, but it was SOMETHING. I miss a good old fashioned horror anthology series. :(

I certainly do. I always looked forward to every Friday evening to catch a new episode. It really angered me when it was cancelled. Then of course Fear Itself came around but that was put on NBC and cancelled just like that as well, though it was a watered down version of this. We may never get another kind of horror anthology show like this again, which is really a shame.

Actually, Fear Itself was never even cancelled...rather, it simply disappeared without a trace after 8 episodes aired.

Considering how much Showtime bungled the once great Dexter, I think it's obvious the network is run by morons.

I can't think of a good reason why Masters of Horror couldn't have had at least one more season circa 2007.
