Am I the only person that enjoyed this film a lot?

I didn't see any reviews before I went to see this movie in 2009 and I enjoyed it a lot. I have seen this movie about 5-6 times since than. I do agree the last ending part of the movie was a bit shab but didn't change much what I thought about of the film. But did anyone esle on here enjoy the film much as I?

I just watched it for the third time, and enjoyed it a lot.

It's a special movie for me, and one of the best sci-fi movies from the previous decade.

You're definitely not alone! I think it's a very underrated film. It's far from a perfect film though. Like you said, the ending could have been better. I also think the film has some pacing issues, but overall, I enjoyed this film. What I love about the film is the premise, atmosphere, tone and the music score. I think it's handled so well, and you really get that feeling of despair that Nicolas Cage's character goes through. The suspense is great as well during some scenes. I've seen it a few times, and I enjoy it every time.

I gave it an 8/10.

I was really enjoying the movie until it jumped the shark. It was like at the end of the movie the writers were like, "This is taking too long. Let's just make the whole thing about aliens and call it a day."

It was really a shame. However, I do own the soundtrack which I thought was lovely.

reply

Yes the soundtrack was pretty amazing.

The first time I watched this film, I was hooked from the very beginning until the end; I felt was such a cop out and I was like WTF. It ruined what was a fantastic film...and Nic Cage was brill in it.

I do agree the ending was a bit strange. Nicolas Cage really did well in this role.

LOL, I see your not very familiar with IMDB. If you go to the top of the main page of any movie it will give a break down of how people voted for that movie. In the case of this movie you are definitly NOT the only person who enjoyed it. Almost 25% of voters gave it 8 or more stars! You gave it 8. Also, the landslide majority of voters gave it an above average rating.

I've gotten more familiar with it now! Lol :)

I liked it, but I try not to over think it. It's an interesting film in that regard as it asks you to acknowledge both determinism and rationalism, but not to think about either too closely. I guess that's kind of the point though isn't it...whether random or determined *beep* happens. You spend too much time thinking about the why, you miss the what.
