Attn Chris Carter: X-Files miniseries please

I really liked this X-Files film. It's very in-line with the style and pacing of the TV episodes, and the mood was pretty spot on, imo. I think it deserves greater recognition than it received. It's just like a long episode, but of higher quality, and that's what makes it great.

1) I like the movie due to its modesty and simplicity. You see so many overproduced action/sci-fi/adventure movies being praised to the stars, but a simple yet well-crafted sci-fi trhiller like this should be considered a letdown in The X-Files franchise.

2) A new season/mini-series is out of question - I read an interview with Chris Carter not too long ago. It's OK. Most TV shows don't have 9 seasons. I want to believe (no pun intended) we will get movie #3, though.

It would be nice to see any new X Files thing on screen from Chris Carter!

Agreed!

Seconded.

According to the cast Chris is still writing a third film. And everyone is on board, but sadly it's not up to them.

I'd like to see a third film. Preferably completing the story arc of the 2012 alien invasion, but after that I'm all for more "monster of the week" movies Unless the earth is in ruins. I don't know what's supposed to happen in 2012. Yes, I'm aware it's passed 2012, but no one said the movie can't take place after the invasion has begun.

It could be set in 2012. It is not as if 2012 was so long ago that the actors would not be convincing in their roles.

You can't palm off a second-rater on me. You gotta remember I was in the pink!

They could, but then people will complain that the movie's dated, and inaccurate because the whole end of the world is in 2012 was all a big misunderstanding. You know like that movie 2012.

they could talk about how all mulder and scully's messings and doings somehow postponed it, or maybe give a cool reason why the invasion was delayed.

I think the aliens aren't powerful enough to wipe out mankind overnight, but I assume they would not need to post-pone their invasion. In I WANT TO BELIEVE it doesn't come off like Mulder and Scully would have done anything to interfer with their plans after the end of the series.

I think the best way is either open post-invasion, but have an introduction or flashbacks setting it up, or make the movie and simply ignore the 2012 plot point altogether. Make the year of the events ambiguous.

What I'd like to know is what could two little fbi agents do anyway against an entire alien empire. When asked a similar question, Carter said that he envisioned something much different than INdependence day. I've always been curious.

reply

They could have it that the colonization already started in 2012 but its more Invasion of the Body Snatchers then Independence Day, with the aliens using the black oil. But didn't the faceless rebels win the war against the colonizing aliens?

reply

I don't think they were mentioned ever again after killing the syndicate.

I say lets just do a 4 part mini series air it on tv then release it on dvd and it could the equivilant to a 4 hour movie. Everyone's happy.

that's the route they're taking with 24
