Keifer Sutherlands handgun in The Sentinel?

Anyone know? Kinda made me think of a P229 or something.

reply

Looked like a Sig Sauer P228 to me.

The USSS issues all agents with .357 Sig Sauer P229 handguns.

Something didn't make sense when I watched the movie, specifically about the agent's sidearms....If the USSS issues Sig Sauer P229's chambered for .357SIG, why was there a discussion about the safety on the gun? The Sig's don't have on the frame safeties like a 1911 or a Beretta 92. It would've made sense if they were talking about the 1911 or some other similar firearm, but not a Sig

It was the biggest goof ever! In fact, I have never heard of an agency that teaches their officers/agents to draw and flip the safety in two different motions. That is a "fine motor skill" which is very difficult to do in a stressful situation when you need to use your weapon. Most agencies don't issue weapons with safeties except those swat teams that use the 1911. Glocks, Sigs and some HK weapons do not come with safeties. The technical advisor who "made up this fact" made the film look dumber. I can't count the number of cops who saw that scene where Eva Longoria mentioned that, who didn't laugh. I have yet to see a sig weapon that comes with a safety. They only come with Decockers which cause the next round to be fired (after the decocker lever is used) double action.
