Informant's Trailer - Really Badly Thought Out **Spoilers

Well, we had a set-up. The Michael Douglas character was a kind of surveillance and counter-surveillance superman. He knew every trick and skill and resource of all the people pursuing him. He was smarter than everybody else. What does he do then? Tracks down the informant's phone no quite cleverly, but then lets the world know where he was going by getting the address in a way that he should have known was going to be instantly traced.

The thing about this situation it's one man against an organisation. It's not a race where they all start from the same place. So he has to make his way to the address as best he can. The organisation can commission helicopters, police - the Guard and the Army if they want. But he gets there first, finds the guy dead. The forces of the state get there just behind him in their three cars. He just drives off and kind of loses most of them. What does he do? Puts his neck into another noose by jumping onto a boat. Easy to surround, and watch. Hard to get out of.

Somehow, (despite Michael Douglas not exactly looking like an Olympic runner), now he is left with only one pursuer. They face each other. They exchange a few dramatic words. Then some more pursuers turn up but lo! - our boy has just crossed a narrow neck of water on a little boat. What does the Secret Service do with its personnel, its communications, its resources? Ummm - vaguely glance over there, then give up. End of scene.

Maybe I'm being unfair (I shall look at that bit again) - but bloody hell, that startled me. Lame and weird and confused.

Was very disappointing. You imagine all the actors and production staff turning up to shoot that scene, and thinking "this is just weak", but doing it anyway.

I got the impression that Kiefer Sutherland's character was beginning to realize that Michael Douglas' character was not guilty and therefore let him get away. I know that's weak too, but that's how I rationalized it.

Tomorrow's just your future yesterday!

You guys forgot that the situation was clasified (after the President, as he does not want to make a scandal about a conspiracy within the Secret Service). That's why there's only a handful of guys who are after Pete Garrisson (M.Douglas). It's not like he's the national fugitive. Choopers and police cars are only for the big scene while this was a secret investigation.

I bet people would cry for continuaty error/plot holes if there were helicopters and police cars chasing after this one man :p
