A lot of pills can be used, Beta blockers will take care of anxiety and keep the heart rate/ BP low, so as to avoid being caught.
But in that case he would have eaten it discreetly.
The way he was popping it , it seemed to be Antacids.
But with all the bad acting and directing, i think they didnt bother on 'these minor details.'

I remember one of his co-workers asked for some pills as well. Was that the guy who was the mole?
I'm not clear why he didn't do the polygraph test, but if it was him who was asking for the pills, maybe he was also prepping to pass it by asking for the pills?
They were Caffiene Pills. If they were something to help him with his polygraph he wouldn't have failed would he? Plus he takes them before he knows he's has to take the test right away. Also the guy who asks for some takes the pills and then makes the point of saying " I haven't even slept since we went on alert." They were Caffiene Pills (Pep Pills) designed to keep one awake and functioning on little, to no sleep.

and for all others: the pills didn't have to do ANYthing with the lie detector test. Neither did Pete Garrison nor Montrose (the mole) try to cheat on the test with those pills.

shareAnybody remember the streets of san francisco? iirc, he popped pills in that show, probably an homage to the character if anything, also an odd twist of fate, that the mole took these pills.
shareI was pretty sure it was just tylenol or similar. He wasn't concealing it and he shared them. Even something as tame as caffeine would probably be frowned on.
