1. If the Secret Service guy who got shot on the porch was shot in his house, would the police or investigators be allowed to take his computer as evidence from a crime scene?
2. Not that I'm interested in trying. But is the refrigerator door that easy of a hiding place where all you have to do is pull off and put back the weather stripping? What other hiding places would be pretty clever for an apartment?
In the normal course of their duties, the police presumably have a right to at least request a warrant for the victims computer. I don't know if the fact that he's a secret service agent would do anything to that. Presumably secret service agents are not supposed to keep work data on their personal computers.

Why wouldn't they be able to take it?
Presumably his wife said okay because she wanted his killer caught. And even if not, the owner of the computer is dead and not a suspect so it's not like there is a 4th amendment reason not to search it/

1. They would need a warrant if they didn't have permission.
2. In movies/TV fridges are a common hiding place. In reality they'd probably pull the apartment apart, so there probably isn't a good hiding spot.
