How does this criticize Americans?
I've heard from several people that this film is supposedly making fun of Americans, and not Kazakhstan.
I really never got that -- In what way does it parody or criticize America?

How does it not?
From the blacks in atlanta to the rednecks at the rodeo to the obsession with ridiculous celebrities like Pam Anderson.
I really think it makes fun of everyone and everything like family guy.

I don't know, it just came across to me as how an uneducated village idiot would react to being in America, so I see it more as making fun of the idiot, not America.
Pam Anderson for example. It was the village idiot chasing her and putting a bag over her head, not "America".
It's more about what it represents, he was taken with her just the way america was some years ago.
Just as in movie though people can see things differently, that's just my perspective.

Well, it shows that the Americans are racist and aren't understanding of a different culture. If Borat does something that he sees as normal that Americans aren't used to, they get offended and make fun of him instead of trying to understand that other people see it as the norm.
shareThe character of Borat was basically an instigator. He provoked a lot of genuine reactions from Americans that showed them in a negative light. The rodeo owner and the frat boys in particular exemplified shades of American ignorance and hostility and Borat basically put them on blast.

Just as the Southern lady showed our best side by trying to explain to him how to use the bathroom. And without pointing out his bag when he returned to the table with it. As a Southern myself I was taught to never point out someone's lack of manners, especially as the hostess. Too bad the same can't be said of her asshat husband. Called the police? Why, arrest him for poor manners?
shareThey "called the police" because Borat brought in Luenelle the prostitute.
shareit does show how certain sections of american society are moronic so i get why people say that
