I have respect for him, though the movie did well, he had the guts to say the script was a mess and called out the writer. Though he apologized and got his millions. I looked at the script and it had no flow.
shareHe hated what Gilroy did yes, but that isn't really what they used if memory serves me right. Gilroy was also openly hostile towards the final product. Put simply there was obvious disagreements between Greengrass/Damon and Gilroy. Honestly Gilroy shouldn't have been involved in the fourth film, though I much prefer him over who is set to direct the next.

All three of Gilroy scripts have had major overhauls done to them, not just Ultimatum.... that is why the 4th movie sucks so much and out of place from the series, because it was clear that it needed the vision of others to improve the scripts.
shareThe script Matt Damon criticized, as a previous poster mentioned, was Gilroy's, which is not the script they used for the film. I quite liked the end product, and my understanding is that Matt Damon did, too.
