Nicolette

Was there any reason why Nicky could not return to work for the CIA? Would they take her back, do you think?

reply

She always worked for the CIA. In "Identity" she monitored the agents' health and ran logistics from Paris, in "Supremacy" she was stationed in Amsterdam in an unknown CIA position, and in "Ultimatum she was working in Madrid for Neal Daniels who was the CIA station chief. After she helped aide Bourne, she was forced on the run. If she returned to the U.S. they could have tried her for treason, aiding and abetting a known fugitive, and any number of things they wanted to throw at her.

^Bourne was fully exonerated by the CIA; why would Nicky be tried for treason for helping him?

reply

Bourne was a wanted man in Zurch, Paris, Berlin and Moscow who was on the run from the CIA..... it was a risk she could not take.

Just because of the events at the end of Ultimatum, it does not mean that Bourne is finally free. The CIA "think" he is dead, so it makes it easier for him, but really he is still on the run.

You'd think Nicky would be able to come in from the cold after the events of Ultimatum and that Pam would throw down the welcome mat for her.

But may be she's seeking a career change.

reply

My thoughts exactly, Spookyrat.

With Noah and company arrested and disgraced and the whole program exposed, Nikki could easily come in.

We (the audience) know that Nikki was actively helping Bourne but she could make up any story along the lines of "Bourne forced me..."

As you mentioned, Pam was on Bourne's side as well, and felt that Noah over reacted when he ordered Nikki's murder.

So yes, I agree that Nikki could easily come in from the cold... if she wanted to.

But does Nicky know Pam would help her out?

Please don't feed the trolls.

reply

Well, Bourne being cleared later doesn't mean that Nicky wasn't committing treason at the time... She still ~could~ be tried for it, at least. There's no guarantee of protection or the dropping of charges. I mean, sure, in a "Hollywood ending", charges would be dropped and she'd be offered a promotion, based on her previous experience and the strength of character she's now displayed... but she would have no real reason to think that it would go down that way., if she came back in.

Also, even with Pam Landy having a change of heart, I suspect that Nicky wouldn't ~want~ to go back to that organization, given all that's happened.

reply

There would be no chance that she could go back to the CIA after she aided and abetted Jason Bourne.
Who is to say that he even gets cleared of any and all charges.
Nicky would have a difficult time not being convicted of treason and avoiding prison.
