Why did Vosen lie that he was in his office?

And why did he ask why Bourne would doubt it?

Just a few minutes earlier, he knew that Bourne was watching them. And when Bourne didn't show up to where he said he'd meet Pam, surely Vosen must have known that Bourne could at least still see him if he was still there?

Oh, he knows I'm not in my office... how strange...

Not really!

I know all that, but Vosen knew Bourne was a very smart man. Bourne could have quite easily been recording his office from the outside, not to mention the fact that, by that time, Vosen knew Bourne didn't show up.

It just seems like, for just a very short time period, Vosen turned very stupid.

Thanks for your reply, and I see your point. However:

remember when Bourne asked, "You really didn't think I was coming to Tudor City did you?"
That's the thing - he knew Bourne wasn't there, so Bourne could quite easily have known that Vosen wasn't in his office. I dunno, it just seemed to me that Vosen switched off for a few minutes.

Bourne knows that Vosen is listening to Pamela Landy's calls because right after he tells Landy to meet him at Tudor City, he watches as Vosen and his men mobilize and leave in a rush as he can see them.

Bourne has no intent to go to Tudor City as he wants to break into Vosen's office safe.

Vosen and crew go to Tudor City. They have eyes on Landy when she arrives. However there's no sign of Bourne. But Vosen doesn't know where Bourne is. And since Bourne is at Vosen's office he can only assume that Vosen is at Tudor City, In effect they are both in a blindspot at least to each other.

So Bourne ASKS first - Where are you?

Vosen can't know where Bourne is, and at the same time he can't tell Bourne he is at Tudor City. By the same kind of reasoning, he figures the safest lie he could possibly throw out there was that he was in his own office.

I think that Vosen had to lie, and he got tripped up by believing on the sanctity of his own office.
