they need more films like this

more creature movies, im sick of these japanese remakes and pg-13 horror movies,
bring back monsters! creatures from scientific experiments gone wrong, aliens, demonic forces that come from a book, and of course classic monsters like vampires and werewolves. sorry i guess i just wish it could be like the 50's and 80's again. now im not saying that they have to be oscar nominated movies, but they could be somewhat mainstream.
anyway who's with me on this? (youll probably end up correcting me on alot of stuff lol)

I'm absolutely right with you on this. Too much political correctness, too many Asian inspired/remade (not that) spooky ghost stories. Seems like the 80s were the golden years for this sort of thing because the super gorific effects and computer techniques had evolved and matured but the PC police were not quite yet on the prowl.

While Slither is enjoyable, I prefer my gore flicks without all the humor and snappy one liners which is why I'll always prefer stuff like The Thing or From Beyond.

But yes I agree, more movies like Slither please.

reply

Are you kidding?

The Thing had a *beep* of one liners! Just check out the quotes page on... this site and you'll see, it's got way more then Slither.

But yeah, we need more movies like this.

The Mist was a pretty good recent one. Lots of interesting creatures. Also if you have not seen it yet please check out Night of the Creeps, lots of brain slugs and zombies in that one too. Quite hilarious in the best of ways.

reply

Sh*t, can't believe i forgot about the Creeps!!! I watched that movie every day for a week when i first got it.

And now, to go and find it in my DVD collection and watch once more.

Thank you prpht, you are truly a great person :).

reply

yes, mist is one of my favs of last year, night of the creeps is a classic, and the thing rocks! and i did read about a new creepshow with 'king' envolved, now that should kick ass!

Perhaps I'll reword my point.

It seems like there's more and more horror movies these days that are just as much comedies as they are horror. Sure, The Thing has some one liners and some humor in it, but nobody in their right mind is gonna call it a horror/comedy. Slither is one of those that you would call a horror/comedy and even though I enjoyed it, I rather prefer those horror flicks without such a reliance on knee-slapper humor.
