very underrated

I still have a hard time understanding why people didn't repsond to this movie more? I think for the genre, it was excellent. Seriously, a top-notch creature feature. I think in a few more years it will be appreciated for the true work of horror cinema that it is.

Sure, it was better than it was given credit for--I'll agree to that. It wasn't a masterpiece, or anything like that though. I'm a big fan of Nathan Fillion and Elizabeth Banks, but that's the only reason I watch it over and over again. Really f-ed up story line.

Have to admit, it was a great "creature feature". It may not have had that strong of a storyline (as you say) BUT it was very much in the vain of the 50's horror B-movies it was inspired by... and those weren't known for storylines either.

Alright, I'll give you that's true. And having accepted it as not a masterpiece... it IS a pretty great movie... For it's specific genre, it might even be considered great.

I still wouldn't mind seeing a sequel.

Compared to most, like 99.9% of films in the same vein as this, the storyline is absolutely FANTASTIC. It makes sense, it is easy to follow, and it's just amazing all throughout.

This film is grossly underrated.

I was apprehensive about seeing this, not expecting much. A friend of mine told me it was pretty lackluster. I just watched it tonight and was pleasantly surprised.

I give it 7/10. It had decent, if limited, character development, avoiding the trend of so many current horror movies to have all unlikable characters.

The creature effects were effective, and the thing that Grant and Brenda grew into was disgusting and unique. Vaguely Lovecraftian, which was a treat, as there isn't much in that vein nowadays.

I agree it was pretty good for a creature feature. Maybe creature features just aren't that fashionable right now? Seems most horror now focuses on slashers or ghost stories. Ironically, I would say two other of the best horror films of the 2000s were of this type: The Descent and The Mist.

I would agree that this movie is underrated. In my honest opinion, I believe that most of the bad reviews come from people with no sense of "horror is good."
I just read most of the reviews a day ago, and all the put-downs were delivered by people that are stuck-up and cannot appreciate a work of art. Most of them signify that ALL horror movies must be the same. They expressed this with giving other titles of movies, saying that those are the great ones. Yeah, I know this movie doesn't pack originality, but it's sort of a gimmick and even "SHRINE" of the classics we all love :D This movie is top-notch horror, with a bit of each film we love packed in :)

My mother said there are no monsters. No real ones... But there are.
