The movie was like some of the monster-of-the-week episodes, some ordinary guy gets infected by something, then turns into a monster with mindless capabilities :D Even though there was a whole group of people inspecting the case, I think this strongly resembled some X-Files episodes. Anyone else?

Yeah I remeber those some were funnier than others
The X-Files had lots of funny episodes, like the Dreamland body-swap ones, the Groundhog Day style time loop, the one where Mulder and Scully had to pretend to be newly weds in the suburbs... Slither was a bit like X-Files, as well as all those humourous creature features like Tremors and Critters etc.
The lute is the coolest of all medieval stringed instruments.
