I'm shocked no one has mentioned R.J. MacReady's funeral supply store they showed a quick shot of at the beginning of the movie in the montage of the town.

It wasn't in the references section here on IMDB, nor did I see any topics here on the forum. Just thought some of you all might appreciate that...

Now that I think about it, the creature runs some vague parallels to The Thing in a similar manner to how it runs parallels to The Blob. Namely in that Grant absorbs others like the thing did, he just doesn't split back up and mimic the prey.

Nice eye dude! The Thing is my fav movie of all time and i didnt see that in the beg of Slither..Will have to look for it next time i watch it.

I just watched Slither on tv but I was only half paying attention while on my laptop aswel, so I missed the reference to The Thing at the beginning, but the final monster reminded me very much of the Blair-thing, with the facial features.

And you never noticed the Mayor (Gregg Henry) is named "Jack MacReady"
And Kurt Russsell's Character in The Thing is RJ MacReady..

Well, that's one of the more obvious things that most people have noticed... The funeral store was a completely direct reference that no one really noticed, so I thought I'd bring that up, sorry if I'm an idiot for not mentioning the mayor's name in there.

Haha yeah I heard them say 'MacReady' (it was one of the guys/girl who raided the barn where the girl was pregnant with slithers) and thought it was cool they were referencing The Thing, it clearly had an influence on this film.

The beginning of the movie in the forest is an obvious homage to Evil Dead as well.

Also when the cops are grabbing their guns in the police station the theme to Predator is playing.

I know I'm coming in late, but I am just watching this movie for the first time. I saw the shop front with R.J Macready and just had to look it up. On the internet search the first on the list was Mac's hat! You can actually buy one of those!

So, back to the movie, I guess.
