Anybody feel sorry for Brenda?

I thought she got a rough deal.

Now that you mention it, yes. She was a victim long before Grant came along. I've quoted her sobbing to my wife for years after seeing this movie. "I'm hungry...I never thought anyone could be so hungry."

Terrible things Lawrence. You've done terrible things.

Yeah, i felt pretty bad for her.

Yep, me too. So there's a few of us.

Her fault for going after a married man.

I was going to say the same thing. Yeah you try to mess with another woman's husband, you're bound to turn into some kind of impregnated/alien/surrogate.

but he was married to a gold digger.

How was she a gold-digger?

They explain she was pretty early in the movie. She was young with no money, and he was rich. She saw an opportunity and took it. Throughout the movie it's clear their love is pretty one-sided too. She seems to care about him like a friend but her feelings for him aren't there. In fact that was the whole reason he went out and got close to Brenda in the first place, cause she stopped sleeping with him a long time ago.

She isn't malicious about it, and I'm not even sure she's aware of it herself, but she certainly is a gold-digger.

reply

Not really, she wasn't much of a likeable person
