I kind of wanted more survivors.

I mean I understand the realism that very few main characters live, but I do wish they explored the idea of characters surviving beyond the standard main guy-main girl (and in this case the cute younger girl as well). For example, the Mayor was an annoying person, but I wouldn't say that he was so annoying that he couldn't have survived. He was at least somewhat reliable. For example, when Grant first shows off just how much of an utter monster he was by killing the one police officer, the Mayor defies his archtype of the loudmouth *beep* by joining the pursuit once Grant goes into the woods (he doesn't even hesitate!). I would have actually preferred that he lived instead of Fillion.

I really thought so too. I think his death compared with the way he died was kind of cheap. I liked the Mayor a lot and thought half-way through "Oh maybe he'll get through the whole plot as the "funny sidekick" and survive". However, once there was that useless raging of him, because of some coke brand they re-established the "Mayor is a dick" stereotype to justify killing him off. I don't think his death had any meaning, besides that some people might've cheered that he died. Then again he was smarter than all of the police men by covering his mouth etc. So yeah, that character was a really mixed bag.

It's a great movie either way. The only thing that bugged me was that the death could have been more scattered maybe (all the police dying at once and stuff)
