This is like two different films in one, and one of them sucks

This is like two different films in one, and one of them sucks.

I was enjoying this film with what it started out to do. Then towards the end it completely shifted gears and just became a much crappier, carbon copy version of all the films it was making fun of in the first part of itself.

The commentary/comedic aspects totally dropped out of the film out of the blue, for no reason. There was no closure to the commentary part of the film. The questions in the first part that that they implied were going to be revealed never were. No closure or point was given to the Robert Englund character either. They totally wasted his talents in this film.

It's almost like the director lost his balls halfway thru the film, and then decided to castrate the rest of his own film in order to be "politically correct". Because it would be 'too offensive' if the journalism students didn't intefere.

Which is a real shame. This could have been a really great film if he didn't sabotage it by doing that, rather than just a mediocre one that he made it into by doing that.

The point of the whole end of the movie (I'm not going to say "film" 500 times in an attempt to make myself seem sophisticated to snobby film students/fanatics) was to continue poking fun at the slasher genre. When it actually turned into a slasher flick, the movie basically became tongue-in-cheek. The commentary/comedic aspects that you claimed became absent from the movie were in reality still very, very much there.

I disagree with everything you said in that post. I believe the movie itself disagrees with it too.

No, turning it off there wouldn't make it be a really good movie. It would make it an incomplete movie. They still would need to bring closure to the questions raised in the earlier parts of the commentary, and the Robert Englund character, before it could be any sort of good movie.

Turning it off there would be a step better than watching what they did do though. Which was make a completely different, garbage film and then slap it onto the original film that they started out with, and leave the original film incomplete.

I thought it was very clever and very entertaining. It was spoof on slasher films and it was a good one.

I didn't really have a problem with them interfering per se. As I saw it Taylor was from the start intended as the true survivor as this was all according to Leslie's plan, but I do agree that the seccond part of the movie could have been written better. What did bother me however was how they inteded to use that documentary in any way: "Okay this is our project, see how a deranged man plans a mass murder. So now several teenagers are dead but we got it on tape, it's awesome". Doesn't really work anywhere. But I did enjoy the movie, I felt that the first part was otherwise really well written and I really enjoyed the leslie character.
