First off, I loved this movie. One thing I've been wondering: do you guys think Leslie intended from the beginning to let Doc Halloran and Doug survive? He killed everyone else, leaving Taylor as the lone "survivor girl", so why leave them alive? I personally like that he did, I'm just curious of your opinion.

And in general. It's common practice to leave murdering the Ahab until the second or third movie. In one of the extended scenes, Leslie and Eugene's wife talk about how, if you let an Ahab loose, they'll work the whole town up into a state of sustained panic without you having to do very much at all. Since Halloran never got a chance to do that, it makes sense to let him live.
And you want to leave someone whom the Survivor Girl cares deeply for, so that you can draw her back later by going through him. Several times. With a hand scythe.
