What makes a horror film a great horror film to you guys?
There's death and all that in Leslie V, but more than that there's the character relationships that build toward the end of the film, when we get to see Leslie go all psycho killer and just kill off the people he's gotten to know - all in the name of driving his Survivor Girl to survive, but still.
What if you saw a film where the killings mostly happened in flashbacks to do with the psycho killer's past as he stalks a group of kids (13-16 yrs) and there are as little as two deaths pertaining to the actual group itself, but these deaths have shock value for the characters and one of them is gruesome. There are more killings, but all of them in flashbacks and none very graphic - apart from the aftermath, which is bloody when discovered. Would you want to watch a horror film based on the chase and on the character build-up, rather than on the blood and gore?
Personally I'm tired of the blood and gore. I want to be scared with the characters and care that something might happen to them. Throw in a unique backstory for the killer and I'm hoping to be entertained.
