Is There Any Point To...?

...the little exchange between Leslie and Doug (I think) after leaving the diner where Kelly works on the first night? I think it went something like:
Doug: *Sees car pull up behind them.* Who's that guy?
Leslie: No idea.

I know it's a small thing, but it just seemed arbitrary to me. Don't get me wrong, I liked that it was in there; I thought it was a cool, random moment. But, I wasn't sure what the point was.

Thanks for any input :)

It cuts right after that, right? I didn't think anything of it at first, but now I realize that was Kelly's boyfriend. I always thought it was weird.

Yeah, it does cut right after.

It was her boyfriend? Huh, I never thought about that. Just wondering, how do you know? It was pretty dark, and I don't remember getting a clear look at him. But, either way, I do agree that it was weird.

I'm gonna assume it was just because we find out she isn't a virgin and I think it's mentioned sometime after that the guy who is walking into the restaurant has sex with her.

I'll rewatch it eventually and I will look more into it.

Alright, thanks. Someone's borrowing my copy right now, but I'll do the same once I get it back.

That wasn't her boyfriend, that was Doc Halloran. You see the same car pull up again while they are inside the Library just before Halloran shows up to stop him.

reply

Not the scene with Doc Halloran, the scene when Kelly is locking up the diner and the guy shows up.

There is a point, cause Leslie knew that was Kelly's boyfriend. He knew she wasn't a virgin, so he played it off as nothing. He knew from the start that Taylor was gonna be his "survivor." Saying Kelly had a boyfriend would just ruin his plans.

spoils below:
I think it was her boyfriend. Doug saw him pull up and asked who he was, Leslie played it off because he described her as innocent. He played it off because the real target was the film crew.

aaarrgghhh NOOOOO it was the Doc. it was so obvious you see the car later at the library.

That's definitely the Doc.
FYI...you can have a boyfriend without having sex, so there would be no reason to hide her boyfriend from the film crew.

reply

It's pretty damn obvious it was the doc. He played it off because he didn't want to seem like he knew who it was(when he did) so he could make it dramatic when he discovered him.
