'Smarter and more entertaining than Scream'??????

I nearly fell of my chair laughing!!!!!

This was a joke..It was pointless in every way it could have been.

For starters it's not even about who it's supposed to be about.

It's supposed to be a documentary, but it just gets sillier by the minute.

It refers to Famous Movie Villains like they are real life serial killers.

It implies serial killers plan things done to the last detail, But the villains it praises..Michael, Freddy, Jason..they certainly never plained things down to the last detail.

When it started I thought..this is gonna be fun..I'm gonna love this...But what a disappointment..Last Horror Move was better and that was even kinda boring.

I've heard of that, Poet. It's half porno, half how-to video on relieving constipation.

You did know that Dan Aykroyd is a vampire, right?

You're tellin' me! That's the LAST time I try to follow along just because the video tells me to.

To the Original Poster:

You missed the whole point of the movie. This film exists in the same world as all those other horror movies. The reason they talked about Michael, Freddy and Jason as being REAL serial killers is because in the world this movie exists, THEY ARE REAL SERIAL KILLERS. And it basically pokes fun at them by implying that they planned out every detail beforehand. And for the record, how the *beep* do you know they didn't? Were yeh there with Jason all that time between the killings? Keep Freddy company in dreamland or wherever that bastard lives? And for the record, Michael Myers seems to plan out a lot of his sh!t beforehand. This flick was meant to poke fun at the genre, LIKE SCREAM, only in a different way. It's not a movie-inside-a-movie like New Nightmare and Scream, but instead, it's a serial killers perspective in a world of serial killers.. only with a comedic twist.

I'll just say this:

In this film he says never go into the closet..Its a rule.

They obviously haven't seen Michael Myers, he tore that closet apart in Halloween.

And immediately after that, Mike got his *beep* ruined by a hanger. The rule stands.

GuyYouWishYouWere, it's all tongue-in-cheek. That's why it's a "mockumentary". It's not meant to be taken seriously. Watch the deleted scenes on the DVD, and you'll see Taylor interviewing Eugene, and he's telling her with a straight face that it's an "industry secret" how he's had his head cut off, his eyes gouged out, been burned beyond belief and he still keeps coming back. It's hilarious. Take it for what it is.

This films is brilliant. The way it pokes fun of and disects the slasher genre is nothing short of brilliance. You really have to be a fan of the slasher genre to fully understand this movie. Not saying that to be snooty, but its true. Everytime I watch it I laugh my ass off more and discover new things.

I agree. It was more true to slasher films than the Scream films ever were. The "rules" in the Scream films are complete garbage and don't really apply to ANY horror movie.

To the OP:

Yeah, I thought it was. :)

T, I agree, this movie is like a love letter to fans of the slasher genre. It's really a smart film and it's tons of fun. I think it's great and way more exciting and fun than Scream, which IMO was terrible back in the very beginning when it was being shopped as 'Scary Movie'.

This movie is allll about the real genre savvy audience, and if you are there's tons to like.

More entertaining? Nah, I don't think so. I will go out on a limb and say this movie puts forth more intelligence in its comedy, however.

Hello, Guy. Remember me from those endless Scream 2 debates? Long time.

The idea that Freddy and the others plan out every little thing is of course ludicrous, but that's not the point. The film is using that premise simply to poke fun at the cliches of the genre. This is usually a copout defense, but you really did take the movie too seriously.

"Black guy is usually first to die."

The second movie poked fun at this.

"You have to have nudity(there was none.)"

That was mentioned as a rule ("here comes the obligatory tit shot!"), Scream just broke it by having Neve's boobs blocked at the last minute. The film mostly sets out to break the rules, ie Neve has sex and lives, Randy drinks and lives, etc.

"ou're not seen in your costume and mask in broad daylight outside of a store when there's a curfew and the cops are looking for a killer with your costume."

Stalking around in public isn't unusual for slasher villains. Michael himself does the same exact thing in Halloween 4.

"Not enough deaths"

Most of the classics don't have huge bodycounts until their sequels. Halloween had 5, NOES had 4, Black Christmas had 7, Child's Play had 1, Texas Chain Saw Massacre had 5, and Psycho had 2. So Scream fits in fine with 7.

"It would be just like Psycho had she been a star at that time and not almost a B-lister."

Drew WAS the star and many people did think she was the main character at the time.

"So how is that making fun of the slasher film where a killer keeps coming back?"

Part of the breaking of the rules. The villains want to be slasher villains like Freddy and Jason, but get their asses kicked like real slashers would.
