The CBS Television City curse strikes again

Craig always complained about the leaky roof and had several electrical issues. James Corden's set actually caught on fire tonight. One of the buildings in his background scenery started glowing and then smoking. I thought it was either something I hadn't noticed before or it was all a bit. Here's a gif: https://twitter.com/latelateshow/status/596542963750047744

After about a minute, the fire alarm went off and Corden went to commercial. When they came back, the show was moved to the roof (https://twitter.com/latelateshow/status/596545616966078464). It was weird, though, because they didn't acknowledge the fire or that they were suddenly in a new location. They went through the short segment, had another commercial and they were back in the studio. They did come back focusing on the burned building and had a toy firetruck, but Corden still didn't say anything. It was SO weird.

Only judging from seeing the GIF, it just looks like a publicity stunt for me.

Creating buzz for the show....getting people to talk about it...like you did here.

I wonder how badly the sets were burned? Did the audience go to the roof, too?

Those nitwits at CBS....not fixing the roof, or keeping a better eye on maintaining the electrical.....

Remember! CBS Cares!

Definitely staged. In the video there's a tiny fire truck putting out the tiny fire.

Watch out, it's the new 'Anything Can Happen' Late Late Show!

reply

staged, huh?

Never seen this version of the show, so I don't know.....

the promos look interesting, though, Did they promote Craig this much in the beginning? (they sure as heck didn't later!)

reply

That looked like quite the surprised look on Corden's face for it to be staged. He's a good actor, but that seemed pretty genuine.

reply

Well they might not have told Corden about it but the fire itself didn't look real enough.

The color is off and when smoke comes through holes it usually goes straight up.
This looks "pumped out" which still could happen, but it would have needed a bigger fire for that and you would have seen the bigger fire.
