IMO this is a better film than captain marvel.
Though cmarvel was not necessarily a bad movie, it was a bit bland for my liking.
Alita is not without it's faults - honestly the pacing is a bit all over the place along with some very strange character motivations.
A prequel to Alita actually would be better than a sequel I think. The flashbacks were pretty interesting.
I consider Alita to be a top 10 of mine, and have ever since it ended. I was impressed with the beauty and quality from the first minute and kept waiting for it to become dull or turn into sheer spectacle with no heart... After about 30 to 40 mins without that happening, I was already cautiously thinking "This will probably become one of my favorite movies."
Once she broke out of the roller arena with the bad gears chasing her over the city, I wanted to be able to pause and rewind and, ultimately, to start it over from the beginning once it ended.
This and Spider-Verse were very similar... both of them were surprisingly entertaining, true "quality" movies, immersive at a high level, and both set new standards in terms of natural-looking, stunningly designed cgi animation.
I'll wait for blu ray to see Capt Marvel.
Captain Marvel was a agenda desaster. It wasnt never constructed as a movie, but instead as a sexist agenda clip. Comparing this piece of trash to one of the best SciFi movies of this decade is simply a travesty.
