Holy crap...
The premiere of Class may just be one of the single worst pieces of television I've ever seen...

Haven't seen 'Class' myself and have no intention of ever doing so but a quick peruse of a few 'Who sites/boards I frequent sadly seems to confirm all my cynical expectations/preconceptions about it. I'd be lying if I said I was surprised, though it is just the first episode to be fair.
Still, I fully appreciate that I'm not the target audience so for those who did watch and enjoy it, good for you!
Being the unbridled optimist that I'm really not but like to think I am though perhaps it'll improve as the series progresses. That said, it was on 'shaky ground' for me when the writer was bragging on Twitter that the lead character was a non-binary, yeast-intolerant, bi-sexual, orthopaedic shoe-wearing hermaphrodite, with cataracts...or something like that.
^Priorities I guess.
ξ
Addendum: I'm seeing accusations of reverse racism, general sh^teness and the predictable box-ticking malarky levelled at 'Class' (less) from many of those claiming to have seen it so with those sorts of alleged 'qualities' and for a bit of fun, here are the board regulars who I predict will declare 'Class' to be the mutt's nuts!:
Culfy: Attended the Cwin school of 'humour'. Still doesn't understand what the 'ignore' function actually entails. [edit: a tradition he carries on with unswerving gusto I note ξ]
Cwin: Attended the David Baddiel school of 'humour'. I'd demand a refund if I was him (David not Cwin).
The Volunteer: Mad old trout with a terminal case of the trots (politically and perhaps literally speaking).
Paul Beardsley: It seems that most people didn't like the first couple of episodes of Class......so Paul will likely declare it a peerless masterpiece to affirm his faux 'Who connoisseur' credentials. Alternatively, in the unlikely event that Class vastly improves in quality Paul will denounce it to be a load of crap instead.
Ant-Mac: Far funnier when he's righteously sermonising in earnest than when he's attempting 'banter'. That irony appears cruelly lost on him.
Goosefeather Guff: Has the unique distinction of successfully finding another orifice to speak out of considering his evidently preferred one is perma-blocked by a rolled up copy of The Guardian wedged up there. Once apologised for finding Nicola Bryant/Peri physically attractive (snigger), the savage sexist (beta) man brute.
Class....^this is your audience! ξ
Chopper Chang once attacked someone's views on Talons of Weng Chiang without going to the tedious chore of finding out what these views were.
He is now not only imagining what a show is like without bothering to view it, he is taking offense to other people's opinions without even waiting for them to be expressed.
He's become like the Master in Castrovalva creating an entire fictional world purely to be offended.
I pray that his creations don't become self aware and turn against him.
1 mark deducted for not being Curse of Fenric. Insert 'The' into previous if you are Ant-Mac
creating an entire fictional world purely to be offended.
I've not seen it myself and have no intention of watching it - but that's irrelevant. Chopper's already decided what my views on it are.
1 mark deducted for not being Curse of Fenric. Insert 'The' into previous if you are Ant-Mac
I'm going to take a guess that Chopper Chang's posts devolved into completely irrelevant rants about 'political correctness' and how it's ruining the country? I have him on ignore...
Let's roll some tits up the flagpole and see if anyone gets wood.
Basically yes.
1 mark deducted for not being Curse of Fenric. Insert 'The' into previous if you are Ant-Mac
I don't think I could have put that any better.
This mad old trout won't be speaking much on the subject though. I can't watch it anywhere. π

EDIT: How could I forget/omit two other prominent (though not in a positive sense obviously), right-on board stalwarts who'll most likely also relish Class?!:
Tricky Dicky: Indisputable proof that some turds just can't be flushed, no matter how hard one metaphorically yanks the chain....
Inglourious (sic) Sister: Very much in the 'Volunteer' mold....she may take that as a compliment if she wishes. Actually perhaps not quite as senile as V' but that's not saying much all things considered...
Class......^this is (also) your audience!
ξ
Such is the curse of Europeans who live in more progressive countries ξ¦ Can't tell one from the other.

I wish I could say Finland is as progressive as The Netherlands... But we'll get there one day (I hope!) Anyways, yeah, I took it as a compliment. ξ
(By the way, I do know how to spell in case anyone's wondering lol. My user name has the Tarantino spelling on purpose.)
Do you even know what honor is?
- A horse.
And I would say we're probably not as progressive as we look from the outside. Still some issues here and there. Happy to live here though.

As All Books Claim Eternity Has Many Universes
EDIT (again)....actually, just remembered another, final one who'd potentially qualify:
Burun: Currently MIA on this board (?). Will profess to be a fan of Class........but only if the object of his lustful desires, Claudia Boleyn (of whom makes Volunteer look sane by comparison) awards it acclaim first!
Actually, I'm almost in a sufficiently black, nay masochistic mood to see what the less than erudite/nutter-like Ms ('I'm cruelly oppressed actually and I'm really not white and upper middle-class you know, honest) Boleyn thinks of Class.....from the deprived hell hole of her parents' Home Counties mansion.
On second thoughts nah, the experience will be just too depressing. Think I'll watch Schindler's List instead.

"here are the board regulars who I predict will declare 'Class' to be the mutt's nuts!:"
Really?
To quote myself from another thread two days ago:
"The first episode set everything up, but it was still a disappointing mess."
"Ant-Mac: Far funnier when he's righteously sermonising in earnest than when he's attempting 'banter'. That irony appears cruelly lost on him."
Chopper-Chang: A troll I would invite to a battle of wits, if it wasn't for the fact he is completely unarmed.
ant-mac
Paul Beardsley: It seems that most people didn't like the first couple of episodes of Class......so Paul will likely declare it a peerless masterpiece to affirm his faux 'Who connoisseur' credentials. Alternatively, in the unlikely event that Class vastly improves in quality Paul will denounce it to be a load of crap instead.
It was rubbish apart from capaldis scene
shareNah, that was rubbish too.

I was on the fence about watching this but I don't think I'll bother now. If even you lot don't care for it then it'll be a right load of shyte.
Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow
What a bummer! I won't be able to see it until sometime in 2017 - whenever they finally announce a release date for the US - but I was looking forward to it. I'll lower my expectations accordingly.
shareIt was no better or worse than any Capaldi doctor who episode so you should be used to mediocrity.
shareIt was considerably worse than every capaldi story, and every Doctor Who story I've yet seen or heard for that matter.
This isn't mediocrity, it's complete non functioning garbage. My opinion of course.
Miss Peregrine: Silliest Movie of the Year?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utta0pYyVOw
And every goose eyed Capaldi garbage is just as bad, average and autistically droll, really they're both horrific black holes of taxpayer money.
shareI disagree on the basis of Heavent Sent and Zygon Inversion alone, but honestly on average I've dug Capaldi's stuff. It's had some really low lows, but Class has put everything in perspective to the point where I can even respect those.
I can respect Love and Monsters, after Class.

There is really no picking them apart they're both low brow and catered to the easily pleased among you.
shareIf your critical lens isn't nuanced enough to separate the 1/10's from the 2/10's, you're doing it wrong.
That's a quote from somewhere, I think.
Miss Peregrine: Silliest Movie of the Year?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utta0pYyVOw
I'm talking about quality TV like GOT on better networks than the BBC that I'm not paying for VS the half a century year old corpse black hole doctor who that is there to entertain 50 year old children that I'm contributing to - a waste of money for a dull non enticing kids show masquerading as a thinking man's concept.
shareMeh. I prefer DW to GOT, but that's mostly a tonal taste thing.
Miss Peregrine: Silliest Movie of the Year?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utta0pYyVOw
There's no accounting for tastes lol! yep, I liked Tennant's who because the actor embraced the stupidity of the genre like he wasn't ashamed, but since then we've had Capaldi and Smith attempt to inject some "drama" and may I say "intelligence" into this kindergarten format.
shareI honestly have no clue what you're talking about. Saying scuff or fantasy is somehow inherently stupid strikes me as insanely narrow minded. Goofy, maybe, but inherently unintelligent? That's just an insult to anyone who's ever worked in this genre. There's no sense of shame to be found in using this show's concept/format to tell dramatic or intelligent stories, that's what it's been doing for decades. Doctor Who isn't a farce.
Secondly, the Tennant era had just as much if not more melodrama than the Moffat years, to the point I often found it insufferable. If anything, what the Moffat era injected was more humor, to the point were right now I feel like we could do with a bit less.
Miss Peregrine: Silliest Movie of the Year?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utta0pYyVOw
There's nothing wrong with the genre don't get me wrong, it's the ridiculous amateur drama injected into this low budget show with a flying police box that makes me laugh and yes Tennant was "goofy" too and wasn't pretentious about it.
shareI dunno dude, I think the Tennant Years ended up being this show at its most pretentious.
Miss Peregrine: Silliest Movie of the Year?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utta0pYyVOw
My dude, I don't think he was pretentious at all he showed hopeless emotion unlike goose eyed Capaldi who has no range but shouting, yelpingξ eyes, eyes open.
shareHe showed his teeth and licked things every other episode. And also... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RssnpE9U6IU
That's the range for you. Capaldi has more range in his eyebrows dude.
Tennant's better in his more serious roles though.
Let's hope Capaldi doesn't go blind with all the eye popping lol! He ain't no actor he's a circus clown I pity those that actually think otherwise.
shareYour pity is rejected and returned.

Chop Chop I'm not instigating any feud, what, nice little me no way!!!! I'm thinking why should I pay for an audience of 50 plus nerds to jack off to Capaldi on my dime, that's all dude.
shareThanks for all the Doctor Who you've paid for Damien! ξ

Nah, I was able to watch Class (though I probably wouldn't notice if it were canceled), Dirk Gently, though, I had to give up on half way through the first episode, erasing it and deleting my TiVo onepass :-).
shareDarn, I was looking forward to that show.
