I understand that movies are generally eligible for Acadamy Awards for the year in which they were released (in B. R.'s case, 2005). But I noticed that at least one of the nominated documentaries this year (Darwin's Nightmare) has a release date of 2004, so is there some wiggle room there, that would let BALLETS RUSSES be eligible for the next round of Academy Awards, or other awards? Anyone know?
shareWhen she was in NY, I had asked Dayna Goldfine about the Oscars this year and she said the film "didn't make the cut" but didn't elaborate. She said she was grateful the film got so much time in theaters, she didn't mind about the Oscars. I did! I'm sure the other documentaries were worthy, but this one was just so unique. It would be nice if it had a shot for next year...
