Plot Hole - Steve Stifler Changed at the end of AW

How could Matt Stifler join the family business of porno films if Steve Stifler changed at the end of American Wedding? Why would Steve be in the porno business if he is in love with Cadence? If anything happened between them, it should have been explained. Hollywood should have stopped at AW :(

Come on what are the odds really taht Candance would stay with Steve? She was really just looking to get laid...although with someone who could show some respect towards her. It's not like they married it seems. The first girlfriend sometimes does not end up being the bride.

But the director and writers ended American Wedding on such a high note! Why would they make a complete u-turn and turn Stifler into a jacka$$ again? Oh wait! I know why! For a quick buck. I hate Hollywood!

reply

but matt wanted to be just liek his big borther is college it makes no diffence that steve changed into a nice guy

reply

Get your facts straight! At the beginning of Band Camp, Matt Stifler receives a postcard from his older brother Steve Stifler. And the postcard states something explicit of some sort (something the old Steve Stifler would say or write).

People who direct pornos can have wives. It's not like he's joining in, he's just filming it.

reply

it couldn't have taken place in between as it is noted that the came was Tall Oaks 2005

reply

that and also noted that several referances are mentioned to the wedding and well the reason michelle couldnt be the macro is that she was pregnet.

reply

American Pie Presents: Band Camp takes place after American Pie: Wedding.

In one of the scenes when Matt meets that MACRO, he introduces himself "yeah that red headed nympho chick screwed your son at my beach house. Something along that lines.

Then Mr. Levinstein says well Jim and Michelle are married now and out of the house and had a kid that's why she couldn't be the MACRO this year.

So they did refer it to after American Pie: Wedding. Just cause Stiffler ended up being the nice guy doesn't mean he can't have his own Girls Gone Wild type company.

reply

Also, even though he ended up being a nice guy, he can still swear. I swear all the time, and I'm considered quite a nice guy.

It's not the first time they've changed (Steve) Stifler completely though. At the end of AP2 he was a bit of a jerk but still oozed charisma; by AW they'd made him into a retard because they needed to show character development.

They say at the end of Band Camp that everyone "hated" Stifler but this is actually untrue. He was a popular jock, but you can't see anyone actually talking about him once he'd left - Stifler was a legend in the REAL world. The studio like to maintain your association between 'Stifler' and 'obscene behaviour' though, especially when releasing a stream of made-for-video sequels.

i think this happened after 3rd film.. coz mich was already pregnant. and since stifler was a coach in the 3rd film maybe he resigned and started the video business

reply

Sherman doesn't know about Steve turning into a nice guy, so he thinks that still everybody hates him (like they did at the beginning of AP3).

End of story.

reply

Just because Stifler changed at the end of AW, doesn't mean he suddenly became a priest or something. He was still Steve Stifler. Nobody changes into an entirely different person overnight. Heck Jim changed in the first movie, but it wasn't like he all of a sudden became a super cool dude.

^^^^how true....he might have become a bit of a romantic but he is STEVE STIFLER...I'd imagine that he's only the sweet romantic guy around Jim and the crew and not guys (i.e. jocks) he would be trying to impress...

YEAH

The directors stated that these spin offs are not going to be related to the main AP series. So in AP:Reunion Stifflers going to be the same Stiffler from AP: The Wedding.

I was thinking that since I think this film says that Jim and Michelle had a daughter, and they have a son in the new movie.

also worth bearing in mind Steve's time at high school ends with the first AP movie, so his antics and lack-of-growing-up shown in 2 and 3 wouldn't be known by the majority of students who would have graduated with him.
It's a bit of a strange dynamic anyway and unclear how friendly Stifler was with Jim, Finch and Kevin before AP1 starts - I get the impression they're almost "friends-in-law" and only associate with him through Ox. They go to parties at his house but so does the entire school, it seems. And while they tire of him and don't particularly want him around in 2 and 3, some of that is because of the tension between him and Finch after what happened at the end of AP1.
But if AP1 shows us anything, it's that Stifler seems to be far better friends with the other Lacrosse players, and he seems very popular among them. He also gets a job back at the school and seems very well respected by the students he's coaching there in AP3.
That's the problem though with so many sequels (or at least movies set in that universe) with different writers and different ideas/themes - there's a lot of ret-conning going on.It's therefore strange to say "everyone" hates him - if that were the case, he'd hardly be considered a legend and therefore the Stifler name wouldn't be so difficult for Matt and the others in these sequels to live up to.
