This movie had heart, unlike many teen films

I look for some things when I watch a movie. Obviously this wasn't a "Brando" quality film but they did a good job.

1. They developed some of the characters to a point where I cared about them by the end of the movie. This movie had great characters, one of the reasons I keep going back.

2. They gave the main character (Matt)an arc where he grew as a person, he wasnt just "the pervert" by the end of the movie.

3. Respectable length 94 minutes

4. Feel good ending which gave closure. I didn't get that "hmm I have to see what happens next and I can't" feeling, very American pie 1 in that respect.
Plus great song choice for the credits (Aeroplane by Tal Bachman) which greatly describes Matt and Elyse's journey,

5. Still had the typical American Pie moments which makes me laugh

Anyone agree?

I definitely agree. Most of these reasons are why Band Camp is my favourite of all the spinoffs. It manages to progress the story and characters in a great way. It doesn't go over the top like the other spinoffs and manages to focus on the actual story all of the way through the film. All in all i thought they did a great job continuing American Pie despite none of the main original cast members returning.

Yes.

yup this was the last good american pie movie.

- OH NOES!!

reply

yes I agree. It was different than other american pies.It was more emotional and lovely i think.at the beginning you may think that the acting and movie sucks but after 10 minutes you get to love it and till the end it gets better and better.
I love this one.I don't get it why the rating is so low.so unfair.people expect to watch boobs and ass
I think it was just a teen romance comedy movie

This deserves WAY higher than a 4.6. It's better than any of the sequels and is the 2nd best to the original. It's not a GREAT movie, but it's decent and way better than most trash that comes out these days.

I agree with all of you. To me heart is always what seperated the "American Pie" movies from the other so-called "gross out" comedies and I was really glad to discover they kept that heart for "Band Camp".

I agree, this was the only spin-off I liked for those reasons.

I'm just going to go ahead and reply to a three year old thread because I just rewatched this movie for the third time.

I actually love this movie. It's stuffed with cheesy Hollywood clichés, a predictable plot and the go-to happy ending, but they're also reasons why I love this movie. It makes me feel so happy every time I see it. Love the romance between Matt and Elyse, in particular when they kiss on the dock and obviously the ending. This movie just has so much heart.

I think Tad Hilgenbrink really did a good job of playing Stifler's little brother. He even got the facial expressions right and the way Sean William Scott says his lines.

This movie always reminds of the fact that I wish I lived in a Hollywood movie. Can't wait till the next time I rewatch it.

Couldn't. Agree. More.

I've loved Band Camp since it was released... I was 12 at the time, and I'm now 22!! I just watched Band Camp for the first time in years, and still to this day it's one of my favorite American Pie movies!! Great cast, excellent soundtrack, and sooo much heart!! What's not to like??

I also like The Book Of Love. That movie had heart as well, in my opinion.

I liked that they continued with new characters and didnt keep dragging out Jim and Oz and all the other original cast.
