Why would Woody say that?

After everything the toys went through with the daycare and the dump and almost dying, Woody had the nerve to say to the other toys that maybe the attic is not such a good idea. I could never understand that line. Where did he expect them go after all that? I would think he would stick to his guns sort of speak and tell them he was right all along and that the attic was the best place for them.

Well the whole message was that a toy needs to be played with so if they were in the attic they would have been up there for a long time of not being played with.

So I guess that's why Woody realized that and acted on it.

I kind of get the feeling your comment is referring to when he wrote the note to Andy and I am talking about before that. All he said was that the attic was not such a good idea but he never gave them any alternatives.

I think he may already have been orchestrating a plan to get them to Bonnie's place.

See in the "Toy Story" world the toys are like people and if your locked in a closet for a number of time your mind starts to brake down and turns you mentally ill or personal brake down say if the toys were up there and and re opened years later when some one was a way Woody Buzz would have been turing on each other and parts and wires etc would have been ripped or malfunction if Andy had seen them in time later he would not understand how did they become like this....

He realized that in the attic they would all become neurotic like the toys are the daycare had. Not good.

When Bonnie stole Woody from Sunnyside it marked the first time in years that Woody had been played with. He even said when asked by one of her other toys that he'd more fun than he'd had in years.

After all they had been through at Sunnyside and the incinerator, Woody started doubting his earlier belief that they would be better off in the attic but couldn't think of a solution.

At the end, when Andy's Mum says "I wish I could always be with you" Woody looks at an old photograph and realizes that the toys need to stay together, and the only way of doing that would be to leave Andy behind; something Woody initially didn't want to do.
