Woody at his best in TS3

Let's get this straight. Woody is my favourite Toy Story character. But I don't think he really peaked until the 3rd film

TS: Very likeable at the beginning and end but is quite the douchebag to Buzz in the middle. Still the best character

TS2: I think this is the worst TS as far as Woody is concerned. He seems quite selfish about the cowboy camp and the toy museum. But again, he redeems himself by rescuing Wheezy and Jessie and bringing her to Andy. Rex steals the show in this one, however.

TS3: So likeable throughout the whole film, I love the escape plan he makes and the whole team work element. I think Woodys finest moment in the whole series comes when, at the end, he decides to save Lotso. Really showed his true colours there.

Overall, I think he is the best character. Tom Hanks does an amazing job at voicing him. Can't wait for Toy Story 4.

Agreed.

I'd say he actually has a better character arc than Buzz, starting out perhaps a bit too arrogant, too assured of his position as leader to be completely sympathetic. Then he grows out of that possessiveness and more into concern for the other toys, who are just as much of a family to him as Andy.

What I really like is that in the first few drafts of Toy Story, he was the villain, an outright tyrant and insanely covetous of his position as the number one favourite toy. Kind of like, oh say... Lotso? Lotso is what Woody could have become if he hadn't the strength of character to stop thinking about himself.

Toy Story: Woody had always been Andys favorite and someone had just up and took that from him. After Buzz got knocked out of the window, he did seem apologetic. I'm sure once he actually found buzz in the car, the only reason he wanted the both of them to return is so the other toys wouldn't hate him. But over the course of the movie you see that Woody knows that without Buzz, Andy won't be happy. I don't think that's being a douchebag, he just didn't want Buzz to take his spot.

Toy Story 2: Woody got caught up in the moment. At Als, at first, all he wanted to do was to go back to Andys. Then he saw all the merchandise and the tv show and he thought he was a rare cowboy doll (I'm sure there were a ton of Woody dolls made), and the thought about going to Japan to be a part of a collection excited him. AND he didn't want the other toys to go into storage just because of him.

Toy Story 3: Woody gets put in the college box, but then sees the toys get mistaken for trash when they were supposed to be put in the attic. Once at sunnyside, once again, all he wants to do is go back to Andys. I think the other toys were douchebags for not believing him when he said they were meant to go into the attic. Why would he lie?

Woody IS a rare doll. That is why Al got so excited about finding him at the yard sale. If an item is common, you don't spend a lot of money on restoring an old one with a ripped arm and scuffs.

A toy store owner like Al, would have been able to find a Woody doll, NIB, if it was available.

Woody is a likeable character in spite of his flaws. Maybe it's just me, but being voiced by Tom Hanks makes him a likeable character.

I personally thought he was at his worst in the first movie cause of how jealous he was.

But I agree that he was at his best in the 3rd one:)
