Andy Moving Out

I agree. That bothered me watching the film as well.

I try to justify in my head that Andy's mother was thinking of renting out the room to another tenant or she was going to use it as some sort of home office and that's why she wanted Andy to vacate everything.

Of course, that brings into question where Andy was going to sleep once he came to visit.

I don't see why he would completely move out just because he's only 18 or 19. 18 might be the age where you are considered an adult, but you are also still a teenager.

That is a good point.

Andy was only going to college. It's very possible he'd have come back to stay there for Christmas and Summer breaks for the next few years. It's not even outside the realms of possibility that he'd come back home to stay there after college before moving into his own place.

I guess Andy's mum could've been doing something with his room. She did say he could move some of his stuff into the attic, rather than throwing it away. Maybe she intended to turn it into a spare room or something, that he could still use if he came back but could also be used if she had people staying.

Seemed she was a bit quick to be removing traces of him from his own bedroom though. A lot of parents like to keep that stuff around when their kids are at college, as a reminder of them or as a way of making them feel welcome should they come back.
