What was the Ruin?
When the ANC took power in South Africa, perhaps?
shareIn the next book, Gathering Blue, it was described as a series of ruins followed by rises. At one point, a series of cities are listed, though their names were split and incorrectly placed together:
"Raved all
Bogo tabal
Timore toron
Totoo now gone."
The three cities listed there are Bogota, Baltimore, and Toronto. This had happened so long ago that no one even remembers their names right. How long ago that ruin happened isn't specified.
